Anu Gupta

Anu Gupta is a lawyer, scientist, educator, and the Founder of BE MORE with Anu. He developed BE MORE’s science-backed method by applying existing neuroscience and organizational psychology to two decades of study, practice, and original research on the causes of and solutions to organizational diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) challenges. 

A peer-reviewed author and the principal investigator behind BE MORE’s research, Anu is a sought-after expert in DEIB, mindfulness, and breaking bias. His research was supported by the National Science Foundation, New York State Health Foundation, Echoing Green, American Heart Association, Nathan Cummings Foundation, On Being, and the Kellogg Foundation, among others. He has written and spoken extensively, including on the TED stage, the Oprah Conversation, Fast Company, and Newsweek. He currently serves as a Systems Designer and author on Antiracist Leadership for Dickinson Law’s Antiracist Development Institute (ADI).

Anu worked as an attorney, a research scientist, and a teacher in the United States, Europe, and Asia prior to founding BE MORE. He has logged over 10,000 hours of meditation and is a trained mindfulness and yoga teacher from Spirit Rock Meditation Center, Insight Meditation Society, and ISHTA Yoga. He teaches meditation on the Insight Timer, Open, and the Ten Percent Happier meditation apps, with a total reach of nearly 20 million people globally.

He obtained his JD from NYU Law, where he was a Root-Tilden Scholar, an MPhil in Development Studies from Cambridge University, and a BA in International Relations & Islamic Studies from NYU. Follow him across all social channels @bemorewithanu.

Nadine A. Chang

Nadine A. Chang, Ph.D. is a Clinical Psychologist, Chair of the Asian Psychiatry Program Committee, and a training director of the Clinical Psychology Externship Program at Gracie Square Hospital, a freestanding inpatient psychiatric hospital affiliated with New York-Presbyterian.

Dr. Chang also holds faculty appointments as Assistant Attending Psychologist at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry (Courtesy) at Weill Cornell Medicine, and serves as Inpatient Rotation Director for the APA-accredited predoctoral psychology internship program at Hamilton Madison House.

Dr. Chang earned her Ph.D. in Clinical and School Psychology at Hofstra University and completed her pre-doctoral internship at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, NY, and postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine with Dr. Aaron Beck, receiving the NIH National Research Service Award for this work. Recently, Dr. Chang was awarded a grant from the New York Community Trust to fund community outreach efforts with Asian communities in New York City. Dr. Chang’s interests continue to focus on implementing and disseminating cognitive-behavioral interventions for psychosis, suicide prevention and Asian American mental health.

Alice Zhang

Alice Zhang is co-founder and CEO of Anise Health. Prior to Anise, Alice worked across various roles in healthcare including product development at an early-stage digital health startup, private equity investor, and management consultant. Alice holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B.S. in neuroscience from the University of British Columbia. Alice is also a certified health and wellbeing coach.

Anise Health is the first culturally-responsive digital mental health platform built by and for the Asian American community. Anise incorporates culture and intersectionality into clinician training and evidence-based treatments, which research shows to be 5x more effective than unadapted models of care. Anise offers holistic and personalized services including online therapy, coaching and self-guided resources to individuals, as well as tailored group services (i.e. psychoeducation webinars/ workshops) to Asian Employee Resource Groups to promote wellbeing.

Ona Lu

Ona Lu was most recently a Lead Product Counsel at Meta. Prior to Meta, she has served as Legal Counsel in several tech startups, an advertising agency, and a boutique law firm. She has experience working in e-commerce, technology, advertising and media, and serving as a “line of business” attorney for numerous business units within a company.

During 2022, she took a personal sabbatical away from a legal career to explore her passions and cares deeply about taking care of one’s mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Ona received her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, and her B.A. from New York University. She received the Achievement Award from the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association of Brooklyn Law School.

Maggie Poon

Maggie Poon is Manager & Counsel on the Global Cybersecurity, Resiliency, & Third-Party Risk team at American Express. In this role, she provides direct contracting support from an information security perspective, which includes advising on contracting and risk issues, drafting terms, and leading negotiations. She collaborates with relevant stakeholders to manage and improve internal processes related to regulatory contracting. She also provides lobbying/policy support.

Prior to this role, Maggie was a member of the Regulatory, Banking & Insurance Legal team, where she provided legal and strategic support on bank regulatory matters, including serving as legal support for Regulation L (management interlocks) compliance, the Community Reinvestment Act portfolio, and the American Express Savings deposits business.

Maggie joined American Express in 2016. Prior to joining American Express, Maggie served as a legal fellow for the General Counsel’s Office of Safe Horizon, a victim services nonprofit organization. Maggie earned her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and her B.A. in English, with a concentration in Rhetoric and Global Culture, from Binghamton University.

Pema Sherpa

Pema Sherpa is the founder of Pema Solutions, where as a Keynote speaker and corporate trainer, she helps organizations boost employee productivity, performance, and innovation.

Her expertise in mindfulness and neuroscience stems from her traditional training and academic research from Harvard University where she studied mind-body relationship.

She is passionate about teaching mindfulness practice without stripping away its robust philosophical and scientific implications while keeping it relevant and accessible.

Pema has worked internationally with thousands of employees at companies such as General Motors, Morgan Stanley, Manulife Financial, NYU, Fordham Law and more.

Alex Su

Alex Su is Head of Community Development at Ironclad, a contracts technology company backed by Accel, Sequoia, and other leading investors. He is also @legaltechbro on Tik Tok, where he makes videos satirizing the legal profession, with over 100K followers. Alex is the author of “The Unauthorized Guide To Getting Into Law School With Bad Grades” and the popular newsletter, “Off The Record”.

Previously, Alex was an associate at Sullivan & Cromwell and clerked for a federal judge. He graduated from Northwestern Law, where he was an editor of the law review and the student commencement speaker.

Karen Kim

Karen Kim is Senior Counsel at QBE North America, part of QBE Insurance Group Limited, an international insurer and reinsurer headquartered in Sydney, Australia. Karen is part of the Business Unit Support legal team of QBE North America, headquartered in New York, and counsels the programs business and loss control on a variety of legal, regulatory, and underwriting compliance issues. She is a member of the QBE Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) Business Resource Group and oversees the QBE Legal Summer Internship Program.

She was also active with the Korean American Lawyers Association of Greater New York (KALAGNY), where she held a variety of leadership roles, including chair of the Women’s Committee, Treasurer, VP of Membership and President. Karen served on the New York County Democratic Committee’s Supreme Court Independent Judicial Screening Panel. In addition, she was an active member of the International Association of Korean Lawyers (IAKL), where she served as Northeast Regional Governor, and she was a member of the Minorities in The Profession Committee with the New York City Bar Association of New York. Karen also served on the Committee on Character and Fitness for the Second Judicial Department.

Karen obtained her B.A. with Honors from The University of Chicago and J.D. from Brooklyn Law School. She received the Queens Woman in Business Award from the Star Network, the Distinguished Alumni Award from Brooklyn Law School’s Asian Pacific American Law Students Association, and the Cornerstone Award from Lawyers Alliance for New York, for her pro bono work.

Yang Chen

Yang Chen is the Executive Director of the Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY), a position he has held since August 2009. Mr. Chen is AABANY’s first Executive Director.

He has been active in AABANY for many years, having served on the Board and numerous committees, including the Judicial Affairs (now Judiciary) Committee, of which he was a chair. Mr. Chen served as AABANY’s President in 2008. Before becoming AABANY’s Executive Director, Mr. Chen was a partner in the firm of Constantine Cannon, a law firm specializing in antitrust and complex commercial litigation. He was among the group that founded the firm in 1994, which started as Constantine & Associates.

Before joining Constantine Cannon, Mr. Chen was an associate in the New York office of McDermott, Will & Emery and before that he was associated with Breed, Abbott & Morgan (now Winston & Strawn). Mr. Chen is admitted to practice in the State of New York, the United States District Court, Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States.

He is a graduate of the New York University School of Law and Binghamton University. Yang received a Community Excellence Award in recognition of AABANY’s partnership with NAAAP-NY (National Association of Asian American Professionals) as well as his contributions to the AAPI community in New York. He also received a Community Advocate Award at the Forest Hills Asian Association Mooncakes for Mid-Autum Festival.

Vincent T. Chang

Vince is a Partner of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group of Wollmuth Maher & Deutsch LLP. Prior to Wollmuth, he was an associate and then counsel at Davis Polk & Wardwell from 1989-2002. Vince specializes in complex litigation in such areas as securities, insurance, bankruptcy, subprime mortgage securitizations, hedge funds, real estate, reinsurance, auction rate securities, bondholder litigation, investment banking, and antitrust. During his career, Vince has worked on litigations in at least 20 states and has worked on a number of matters where the amount in controversy was nine figures or more. Vince is very active in bar association and public-service work.

Vince was the first AAPI president of the New York County Lawyer’s Association, one of the oldest and largest bar associations in the city. He is also a former president of AABANY. Vince is a graduate of Harvard College, magna cum laude, and Harvard Law School, cum laude. Vince was recognized by the New York City Bar Association with the Diversity and Inclusion Champion Award.

Hon. Sanket J. Bulsara

Hon. Sanket J. Bulsara is a Magistrate Judge of the Eastern District of New York and the first South Asian federal judge in the Second Circuit. He received the Legal Trailblazer Award from the South Asian Bar Association of New York.

Judge Bulsara received an A.B. degree magna cum laude in 1998 from Harvard College, and a J.D. degree cum laude from Harvard Law School in 2002.  He is a graduate of Edgemont High School. 

Upon graduating from law school, Judge Bulsara was a law clerk to Judge John G. Koeltl of the Southern District of New York.  Thereafter, he was an associate at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr in New York, where he worked from 2005 to 2015, including as a partner of the firm.  In 2015, he became the Deputy General Counsel for Appellate Litigation, Adjudication, and Enforcement at the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, DC.   Immediately, prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Bulsara served as Acting General Counsel of the SEC. 

Judge Bulsara is an Adjunct Professor of Law at St. John’s Law School where he teaches Remedies and Securities Litigation.   Among other committee responsibilities, he serves as co-chair of the EDNY and SDNY Joint Local Rules Committee, and on the Judicial Conference Committee on the Administration of the Magistrate Judges System.   

Concepcion A. Montoya

Connie is a Partner at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, bringing nearly two decades of class action experience to her trial and litigation practice in employment law and consumer protection defense. Connie also assists chief people officers, human resources managers and supervisors, and in-house counsel in formulating and executing effective strategies to maintain an inclusive workplace. Connie frequently defends leading financial services organizations against claims arising from various federal regulatory statutes, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), and the Truth-in-Lending Act (TILA). Connie is a member of Hinshaw’s Diversity Committee.

Before joining Hinshaw, Connie was an Assistant Corporation Counsel in the Special Federal Litigation Division of the Office of the Corporation Counsel of the City of New York, where she defended the City and its municipal employees in federal civil rights actions.

Connie is one of the founders of the Filipino American Lawyers Association of New York (FALA New York), the first Filipino bar association in New York. She also served as President of FALA New York.

Connie was a former Co-Chair of the Litigation Committee of AABANY, former Barrister of the Federal Bar Council, Board Member of the LGBT Bar Association of Greater New York and the National Association of Women Lawyers. She also previously served as Co-Chair of the LGBTQ Network with the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association.

Connie was born in the Philippines and is a graduate of Stuyvesant High School and New York University. Prior to Brooklyn Law School, she studied Theology and Ethics at Union Theological Seminary, earning a Masters of Divinity degree. Her training and education has supported her passion to teach, defend, and serve.

She was recognized as a 2022 Distinguished Filipino Woman by the Philippine Consulate General in New York and was a Philippine Distinguished Honoree for International Women’s Day by the Society of Foreign Consuls. Connie was recognized on the Nation’s Best list by Lawyers of Color and also received a Distinguished Alumni Award from the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association of Brooklyn Law School.

Susan Jin Davis

Susan Jin Davis is currently Social Impact Officer for Al Roker Entertainment, where she strategizes with brands and corporate clients to identify the positive attributes the business creates, notably in the ESG, sustainability, and diversity, equity, and inclusion areas. 

She was formerly with Comcast Corporation, where she was the company’s first Chief Sustainability Officer. In this role, she created the company’s approach to reducing emissions and environmental responsibility. Susan was also integrally involved in Comcast’s DEI strategy and helped launch Comcast’s Internet Essentials program that now provides low cost, high speed internet access to over 10 million low income Americans.

Susan also served as faculty for the Center for Creative Leadership in organizational leadership, women’s leadership, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

An advocate for AAPIs in business and corporate America, she is active in the community nationally. She serves as the Chair of the Board of the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies and is a director on the Board of the Asian/Pacific Islander American Chamber of Commerce & Entrepreneurship. Additionally, Ms. Jin Davis is a past board member of Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics and the Asian and Pacific American Scholarship Fund.

Her other volunteer leadership services include the Board of Directors of the Juvenile Law Center and the Board of Trustees of her undergraduate alma mater, Bryn Mawr College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. She holds a Juris Doctor degree from the Dickinson School of Law of Penn State University.

Recognized by Forbes as one of “Five Women of Color Who Should Be On Your Radar Screen,” she completed the Women in Cable Telecommunications Senior Executive Summit at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, the Women’s Executive Leadership Program at the Wharton School of Business and the Cable & Telecommunications Association Executive Management Program at the Harvard Business School. She has been named one of the “Most Powerful Women in Cable” by Cable FAX Magazine and one of the “Top 50 Most Influential Minorities in Cable” by Cable World for many years.
